This is a list of common words or phrases that often come up in the world of battledawn:

Admin/AdministratorThe manager of the world, who takes care of it, always appears in Greenland.
Ally/Allied1. Someone or something that in the same alliance as you.
2. Sometimes also refers to a NAP between two alliances
(For game features: always take the first meaning)
BetrayAttack 1 or more friendly friendly player ,than quit your alliance and relocate and join another alliance
ColonyThe central city / HQ of a player. Can not be captured. See Colony.
CrystalSymbol:
A valuable stone that is often sort after due to it's enhancing abilities. See Relics & Crystals.
Estimated Time
Of Arrival (ETA)
The number of ticks for a squads or nukes to get to a location.
FriendlySomeone or an alliance that is marked as a friend of your alliance.
HavocThe world is about to end and be reborn.
HostileSomeone/something/an alliance that is:
1. marked as an enermy to your alliance.
2. that is a threat or attacking you or your alliance.
Killed In Action
(KIA)
A unit that has died in battle. Maintenance for this unit will still drain food supplies unless cleared.
MaintenanceThe amount of food needed for a OP or unit per tick. If it falls below zero, your army will begin to be disbanded.
MAPMiltary Aggression Pact ,pact between alliance that argee to participate war together. This doesn't override other pacts and is rarely actually signed as the main pact. Basically, if two alliances with a NAP want to attack someone, they make a MAP
MDAPMiltary Defensive and Aggression Pact ,pact between alliance that argee to participate war together while Defend and Aggression.(Not enforced)

NeutralSomeone/something that is neither allied, friendly or hostile.
NAPNon-aggression pact,Pact between alliance that argee not to attack each other.(Not enforced)
NewbA polite way to call a new player.
Newspapers1. Players of battledawn create reports relating to battledawn and submit them on the forums. The Official Newspaper of Battledawn is The "Battldawn Report Weekly" created by Miyamoto Musashi. Players are allowed to make "Alliance Newspapers" to make reports based on their own alliance. Newtypes Players who are part of the newer generation of players in battledawn These players do consist of newbs, but not all Newtypes are newbs. They tend to seek out becoming oldtypes.
NIP No interaction Pact. This is when two alliances may never be in conflict. This pact can never be broken unlike a NAP, which can be overridded by a MDP, MDAP and many other pacts.
NoobA insult way to call a new player.

OldtypesThese are the most experinced and most powerful players. They can also be refered as old generation players. The majority of Oldtypes played in the alpha rounds of the game. There is a slim number of players from the beta rounds that can be considered Oldtypes.
Outpost
(OP)
Small bases that can be upgraded to fulfill a number of roles. Can be captured by other players. See Outposts.
RelicThe most valuable item in the Battledawn game. There are only ten relics in the game. Any player who obtains one will be listed in the top ten players. Alliances with a member with a relic will be listed in the top ten alliances.
Squad1 to 10 units grouped together & are able to deployed, attack or defend.

Unit of time in Battledawn. One tick = One Hour On Normal Servers. One tick = Half An Hour On Double Tick Servers. See What is a Tick.
"True Newtype"These players represent player evolution. They will be the most powerful players within the game. They will create the most unique stratgies and tactics and have the power to crush any enemies that come his/her way. No player has yet reached the status of a "True Newtype"
