Military
From Guide
Battle Dawn, defined by its own name, is a hostile environment where players either defend their right to independence and conquest or face being conquered. Thus, it is imperative that each Colony build an army to for defense as well as attack. The gateway to this element of Battle Dawn is the Military button, located at the bottom of a player's screen, just to the right of the globe.

Unit Recruiting
To start an army, players must first recruit units, which will later be grouped into mobile squads. Recruiting requires these steps:
| 1. Click on the green arrow to enter the recruiting menu. | |
| 2. Now select the desired unit type (soldier, vehicle or tank/armor). | |
| 3. Choose the desired weapon type for the unit. This can be Concussive, Beam or Explosive. | |
| 4. Select the unit upgrade (Armor, Damage, or Range). | |
| 5. Review the selection. Then click Train Unit. | |
| 6. After a number of ticks (2 for soldiers, 4 for vehicles, 6 for tanks) the new unit will be ready for action. Multiple units can be trained at once. |
More information can be found on the Military Unit Types and the full list of the 27 possible units on the Military List page.
Squads
Once a number of units have finished their recruiting ticks, they must be grouped into Squads before they can be deployed to other locations (units not in a squad will still defend their Colony if attacked). Details of Squads can be found on the Squads page. Units will heal whenever they are stationary for a whole tick, 1 Health point per tick they are not moved and they heal regardless of the location of the squad.
KIA - Killed In Action
With every battle comes the chance for losses. KIA stands for killed in action. Any units killed in battle will be marked "KIA" in their squad list. These units will still drain food (their Maintenance) unless they are cleared from the owning squad. If all units in a Squad are KIA, the squad is automatically deleted when the units are cleared.
Maintenance
Every unit recruited requires maintenance in the form of food per tick (1 for each soldier, 2 for each vehicle, and 3 for each tank/armour). If a Colony produces an insufficient amount of food for its army, its number of workers will stop increasing, and, its food levels will drop until it reaches 0. When that happens, its army will be reduced by deleting units until the Colony can support the remaining units.
