For those of you who are looking for a step-by-step guide to rising throught the ranks fo Battle Dawn, here is a basic outline for getting started.
1. Build up your resources, starting with food, metal, oil, and then energy. Food is your most imprortant resource, since it is what grows your population. Metal is the next most important, since that it is the building material for all of your other buildings and for your army. Without oil your troops are stuck. And energy is the least improtant, but it is what gives you the ability to scan opponents, jam their radars, and then later put up the shield, teleport your troops, and use the ion cannon.
Note: it is suggested that you build up all four of those resources to level three, before you begin building your army. Of course, this depends on your situation, but there is wisdom in that advice.
2. Stand united, you will stand long, stand alone and you will fall often. This is a team-work game. Without a team you will get owned. So start making friends early. Find alliances that are close, because alliance on other continients can't send units to help you defend. If you do ally w/ a friend on another continient, then relocate. No one can stay on this game 24/7, so its good to have others watching your colony for you.
3. Learn to use the Bonuses! You can only buy so many units, so buy units with bonuses whenever you can, and mold them to fit your opponents weaknesses.
4. Keep your population high! This is the greatest source of your income until you can get some "farms" (aka: conquered colonies) under you.
